Q: The hydrostatic transmission on a garden tractor any good? I see the different types of transmissions (I look at the model maker) and I wonder if the hydrostatic transmission is good, or is it like a toy and cause problems.
I'm not familiar with these models, but the hydrostatic transmissions can be great! I have a 87 John Deere 185 Hydro and is still going strong. I read that they put two hydro units in them and I ended up with the best of both. Rarely they give people trouble because they sealed units .... not need to do all maintenance is!
They work well, easy to use.

A: renpen makes some good points, but to be honest, if you need to replace a hydrostatic transmission, then you will be looking at $700 plus for a new unit, whereas the older type belt drives are much easier to maintain and adjust even if you are not mechanically minded.

A longtime resident Chesterfield Township has given her family a gift that will truly last a lifetime.
Dennis Van Winkle from donated a hand to anchor the town which is now posted on the municipal land on the road Sugarbush, printing his name in the history of the township. It also plans to donate a truck by hand to the Township Historical Society Chesterfield.
"I did it for my parents," he said. "It's a gift for them to have their name on a plaque at the front of the common room.
"It's a gift that will last forever.My children and grandchildren can go to the township hall and see the plate with our name on it and I thought it would be cool.

This tight of steering is similar to the steering used on the old front mount industrial mowers.
